What to Expect on Your First Visit at Oakbrook Animal Hospital
Our goal is to make your visit as pleasant as possible, and to streamline your initial visit—regardless of the purpose—we make several forms available online in our New Patient Center. In this area of our website, you can fill out your personal information, your pet’s medical history and even sign consent forms for dental treatments, boarding, grooming, sedation, and surgical procedures.

Armed with all the information from your forms and what we learn from our thorough personal consultation with you, we’ll begin your pet wellness exam. Our physical pet wellness exams include weighing your pet and examining their teeth, coat, eyes, skin, and ears. Our medical staff will listen to your pets breathing and heart rate, and we may even take a stool or blood sample if necessary to rule out certain conditions.

Veterinary Technician

After growing up in Emporia, KS, Karen took off to K-State and not only finished her bachelor’s degree in animal science, but she is also currently working on her master’s degree in veterinary biomedical science. She loves internal medicine and pharmacology, and she has a passion for seeing patients leave with a smile and a wagging tail. Karen has some goals to run a full marathon, visit all 50 states and jump across the pond to see Germany and Sweden, as well as own some cattle one day. She is also the epitome of an outdoors person. She loves to bike with her husband, go running with her Gerberian Shepsky, Aspen, and just relaxing around a campfire, enjoying s’mores with family and friends.
